CHERRY HILL, NJ-Dick's Sporting Goods has signed a lease for 50,000 sf in the retail portion of the mixed-use redevelopment of the former Garden State Park race track here. Construction of the shopping center component is currently under construction, with completion slated for early next year. Dick's will join Wegman's as one of the major tenants announced to date.

The retail portion is actually being developed in two phases, according to Joe Morris, vice president of commercial leasing and marketing for M&M Realty Partners, Piscataway. M&M is allied with Turnberry Cherry Hill, the master developer of the 233-acre site.

Dick's will be part of Marketplace at Garden State Park, a 530,000-sf regional mall. The other phase is the 230,000-sf Towne Place at Garden State Park, a lifestyle center. At build-out the Garden State Park redevelopment will also consist of upwards of one million sf of office space. More than 1,650 luxury residential units and a 150-room hotel are also part of the mix, as is a 10-acre block of open space.
