ONTARIO, CA-Central Garden & Pet Co. will take 395,000 sf at Crossroads Business Park. The firm picked up the space in a seven-year sublease from SoloCup, who vacated to another sight earlier this year. The lease agreement will bring together two divisions of the firm under one roof. Norcal Pottery and Excel Garden Products will move from their operations in Fontana and Santa Fe Springs, according to Walt Chenowith of CB Richard Ellis.Central Garden & Pet Co. also consolidated operations in Portland, OR, agreeing to fill 258,125 sf at Rivergate Corporate Center in a five-year deal. The Portland and Ontario deals combined total $14 million.CBRE industrial specialists Chenoweth, Frank Geraci and Dan De La Paz represented Walnut Creek-based Central Garden & Pet in each lease transaction, valued together at almost $14 million. Tom Cherry and Scott Evans of Cushman and Wakefield, along with Tom Tunicliff of Trammell Crow in Chicago, represented SoloCup.Chenowith tells Globest.com that Central Garden & Pet will take on more than 75,000 sf more space in the lease, by combining into one, large facility. "They were able to pick up more space while achieving substantial cost savings," he adds. According to Chenowith, Norcal Pottery needed a substantial increase in yard space and found it in the Catellus-owned Crossroads Business Park. The park totals 595,000 sf and is 100% leased.
