WALLKILL, NY-Westchester County-based developer Ginsburg Development LLC has broken ground for its Fairways at Wallkill residential development next to the Orange County Golf Club. Some construction has already begun on the 217-unit gated development that is Ginsburg's first foray into the residential housing market in Orange County.Martin Ginsburg, principal of Ginsburg Development based in Hawthorne, says, "You just can't find a site like this in Westchester or Rockland County." Sitting on 62 acres, the complex will consist of 51 detached single-family homes, 34 duplex units, 108 townhomes and 24 condominiums ranging from two to four bedrooms anywhere from 1,267 sf to 3,023 sf. Almost completed is a 4,000-sf clubhouse that will house a cyber cafe, fitness center, social room, game room with a bar and conference room. Eventually, an in-ground swimming pool and tot pool will be built at the clubhouse along with a putting green.

Ginsburg says it will take more than two years to complete the Fairways development. The firm, which is branching out and building communities in Connecticut and in Rockland and Dutchess counties as well, has also begun construction on its first project in New York City. The developer tells GlobeSt.com that construction has started recently on a new 12-story residential condominium building at 245 West 19th St. The property will contain 19 units.

Ginsburg says that his firm has recently presented plans to the Town of Poughkeepsie for a 465-unit development at the Casperkill Country Club, which Ginsburg Development owns. Also in the company's pipeline are the Hudson Pointe development, a 60-unit waterfront project in Poughkeepsie and Quaker Green a 148-unit development in West Hartford, CT.
