Washington Post

Anticipated trends in cap rates, leasing office space in a recovering market and commercial real estate hot spots into 2006 are among the topics that will be explored by ranking industry executives and analysts. The art of negotiation, the optimum "mix" in mixed-use, and methods of recruiting and keeping top performers are also on the agenda.

Glenn R. Mueller, director of the Center for Real Estate at Colorado State University, will forecast the economy. Brett G. Hunsaker, senior managing director of CB Richard Ellis, will uncover the art --and value--of networking, and Philip W. Grone, deputy under secretary of defense, will discuss how to turn base closings into opportunities. Hessam Nadji, director and chief marketing officer of Marcus & Millichap, will highlight potential opportunities in secondary markets. These are just a few of the experts and topics packed into this annual event.

Attendees will tour the Downtown Fort Lauderdale submarket by land and sea, accompanied by information on notable recent projects and growth management. A total of 3,904 residential units have recently been built or are in various stages of development in this downtown. Jonathan Schein, president and CEO of Real Estate Media, parent of GlobeSt.com, RealShare conferences and numerous print and online publications, will introduce Woodward. Known for uncovering the Watergate scandal, Woodward will present a "Deep Look Into Washington's Power Game."
