The job change for Patrick Sauer, who spent the past five years with CB Richard Ellis Inc. as a senior account manager, delivers a seasoned developer with a prized black book of clients. "CB's a great company, but for what we do on the tenant side of the retail business, it made a lot of sense to come to Staubach," he tells GlobeSt.com.
Staubach set up Velocity Development Services earlier this summer, naming well-known Arizona broker, David Cheatham, as president of the group based in Staubach Retail's West region in Phoenix. Sauer will continue to use Dallas as his operating base. "It makes sense for me to be centrally located," Sauer says, adding more regional development directors will be hired as the Velocity group gains ground.
Sauer, also given a vice president's title, came on board with projects in the pipeline and a client roster that includes CVS/Pharmacy, Smart & Final, Citibank, Havertys Furniture, Bridgestone Firestone, Sleep Experts and Floors Today. He says Velocity's upcoming projects are single and two-tenant buildings under 15,000 sf and scattered across the US. Several projects are in escrow, he adds.
Prior to his stint with CBRE, Sauer was vice president and development director for the Dallas-based US Restaurant Properties Inc. He also spent more than 10 years with Mobil Oil Corp., specializing in new store development in the US. CBRE's policy is not to comment on exits.
