ATLANTA-Filling an ongoing demand for condominium living styles, locally based Wood Partners has broken ground on Horizon at Wildwood, a planned $65-million, 282-unit undertaking. The 19-story building is in the center of the Wildwood area on Powers Ferry Road near Windy Ridge Road. Homes will be priced from the mid $100,000s to the high $700,000s. The project is tentatively scheduled for completion in first quarter 2006.
The project is being built on six acres with two acres left undisturbed for tree preservation, Rick Mercer, a Wood Partners director, tells GlobeSt.com. "It is really amazing because from Powers Ferry, you cannot really see there is a construction project going on," Mercer says. "This will mean the final project will have a very forest-like feel which is consistent with the rest of the Wildwood developer and the [nearby] Chattahoochee National Park."
Although only a 20-minute drive to Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead, Mercer says "what is really convenient about the location is the access to the Cumberland exit, right off of Power Ferry. What this means is that our residents can avoid all the Cobb County congestion on Highway 75 due to the fact they get on 75 inside the loop."
The Wood Partners executive says there have been no pre-construction sales to date but the company is "taking names to include on a priority [purchase] list." Mercer expects Horizon at Wildwood to be sold out quickly, following the same sales pattern at the developer's three other sold-out condo projects in the metro area. They are the 28-story, 1,200-unit Spire; the 498-unit, 20 story Metropolis; and the 21-story, 358-unit Eclipse.
Horizon at Wildwood will offer one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes ranging from 736 sf to 1,951 sf of living area. Two-level penthouse homes will be over 2,500 sf. Amenities at the completed project will include a fitness center, an outdoor garden area, outdoor pool with cabanas, outdoor entertainment room, a lounge with catering kitchen, a computer center, concierge services and private parking.
