The new addition to the hotel will also have a 3,000-sf private patio for outdoor events. Included in the 14,135 sf of new meeting space is 5,000 sf of pre-function space, an event planner's office and restrooms. The new space will handle up to 1,500 visitors and can be reconfigured into eight separate rooms for smaller meeting functions. The addition is scheduled for completion in September 2006.

Marriott opened the Ritz-Carlton and the adjoining $200-million, 25-story, 1,000-room JW Marriott Hotel in July 2003 on the 500-acre, $600-million Grande Lakes Resort campus at John Young Parkway and Central Florida Parkway. The privately held Thayer Lodging Group of Annapolis, MD developed Grande Lakes Resort.
