The new position is part of CBRE's effort to expand its valuation capabilities in the Northwest, which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. With Biethan, CBRE says it will be able to better serve its national clients that have requirements in the region.
"(This) is the first step in our plan to build a valuation capability in the Northwest that is equal to our operations in the rest of the country," says Douglas Haney, president of CBRE's Valuation & Advisory Services.
Biethan could not be reached Monday for comment. He comes to CBRE from Cushman & Wakefield, where he was managing director of Valuation Advisory Services. He was in charge of several accounts and also was a member of the hospitality team, according to sources at C&W. Prior to C&W, Biethan was a real estate consultant with Pannell Kerr Forster CPA in Los Angeles and Seattle. He is a past president of the Appraisal Institute's Seattle chapter.
C&W's Seattle VAS team reports to John Vissotzky, a senior managing director with Cushman and Wakefield of Oregon who manages the Northwest Valuation Advisory Services team from Portland. Vissotzky tells GlobeSt.com that C&W continues to aggressively grow its valuation services business in Seattle and is "actively recruiting for additional top appraisers."
