DENVER-Mike Byrne and Scott Kohrs have purchased Taylor Kohrs construction company. Kohrs has headed the Colorado operation since 1999. The pair bought the company from Taylor Construction Group of Des Moines, which has been the parent company to Taylor Kohrs, formerly Taylor Ball, since its inception in Colorado in 1983. The terms of the deal were not released.
Byrne, who has a long history in Denver-area commercial real estate, is a welcome addition, Kohrs says. "Mike has been involved in real estate development and management in the Front Range for more than 30 years, and he brings a wealth of experience that will complement our services from a construction standpoint," says Kohrs.
"With this partnership in place, Taylor Kohrs can help make the development process easier for our clients," says Grant Taylor, another principal of his namesake firm. "The two components, implemented simultaneously by the same company, will enhance the services we're providing to all our clients."
Kohrs' entire professional career has been with the Taylor Construction Group. He joined the company in 1986 as a project engineer upon graduating from college. In 1999 he took over the Denver operation and has lead the company to more than $250 million in sales in that time. He has worked on projects across the nation including three regional malls in Iowa, Michigan and Florida, the United Way of Central Iowa, Glen Oaks Country Club of Iowa and the Laramie Recreation Center of Wyoming.
Byrne has completed real estate transactions totaling more than $150 million during his career. He has been active in Colorado real estate since 1973, including roles as president of Western Property Advisors and GT Land Inc. In his previous roles he has overseen the development of apartment buildings, office space and residential communities.
