Daimay North America Automotive Interiors Inc., a Shanghai-based company with its US headquarters in Detroit, did a turnkey deal for 1129 Avenue R in two to four weeks, Frank Jester with Dunn Commercial LP in Arlington tells GlobeSt.com. "They had a scout out looking for space. I ran into him one day, we hit it off and I showed him some spaces in the Great Southwest," he says.
The short-term lease puts the GM visors supplier into a duplex, owned by the Ramsay Family LP of Arlington, within a couple miles of the assembly plant. The primary hurdle, Jester says, was the size requirement due to the diminishing supply of 20,000-sf spaces in the Great Southwest Industrial District. The building's other half is being used as dead storage for the next 18 months so the region's newcomer has built-in expansion space if it's needed, he explains.
