Commenting on the award, Sam Sabin, senior vice president of Perini Building, says, "Our preconstruction team has worked diligently with Foxwoods' design team to establish a realistic budget and reliable schedule." The project will feature a 26-story, 825-room hotel tower with a 25,000-sf spa, a 4,000-seat theater and 115,000 sf of meeting and convention space.
The new hotel will be the fourth at the Foxwoods Resort since the resort opened in 1986. When the hotel is completed, the complex will feature 2,240 rooms. Additional components of the project include a 50,000-sf ballroom and junior ballroom, two nightclubs totaling 20,000 sf and three lounges. There will also be a casino with 50,000 sf of gaming space, three restaurants, four retail stores totaling 10,000 sf and a 1.1-million-sf pre-cast garage with 2,900 parking spaces.
The project is expected to break ground next month and is slated for completion by the summer of 2008. Foxwoods totals 4.7 million sf. The complex currently has 340,000 sf of gaming space and 1,400 hotel rooms and suites.
