"They were looking for a fairly high profile building and the Back Bay was preferable, in part, because of the wonderful working environment it offers," Chris Gotfredson, senior vice president of NAI Hunneman Commercial, tells GlobeSt.com. Copley Place's transportation options, including nearby commuter rail and subway systems, also played a role in Ascendent's decision, he notes.

Terms of the lease were not released, but Gotfredson says space in the six-story building, generally leases in the mid-$30 per sf range. It is part of the 9.5-acre mixed-use center that includes more than 100 stores and restaurants, four office buildings and two hotels. Gotfredson represented Ascendent, while owner Simon Property Group Inc. was represented by Ogden White and William Crean with CB Richard Ellis' Boston office.
