Attendance is expected to top 200 at the conference, according to Richard Kelley, conference series director for the RealShare series, which is produced by Real Estate Media Inc., the publisher of GlobeSt.com, Real Estate Southern California magazine and Real Estate Forum magazine. The Net Lease West forum is one of two events in the conference series that are scheduled for this week in Southern California. The other is RealShare Orange County, which will be held tomorrow at the Irvine Marriott.
Kelley notes that the Net Lease forum is a response to the continuing momentum in the sale-leaseback trend, the 1031 exchange industry and the tenant-in-common industry in Southern California, where many of the leading TIC firms are based. "Between the 1031 exchange business, the TIC business and the increase in sale-leasebacks as corporations look at different ways to fund their growth, the net lease business has become a growing industry niche," Kelley says.
Highlights of this year's Net Lease event will include a keynote address by Chris Volk, co-founder, president and CEO of structured finance specialist Spirit Finance Corp., who will present an outlook on the capital markets, credit analysis and capital efficiency. Other highlights will include an interview "Inside the Real Estate Mind" with Tony Thompson, chairman and CEO of Triple Net Properties, a town hall meeting on the state of the net lease market, and panels on capital markets, development trends, hot investment niches, hot geographic markets, the sale-leaseback market and other topics.
Thompson will be interviewed by Michael Desiato, group managing director and editor-in-chief of Real Estate Media Inc., who also will kick off the Net Lease forum with opening remarks Thursday morning. After a full day of speakers and panel sessions, the forum will include a networking cocktail reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
