DETROIT-Two vacant properties in Southeast Michigan will benefit from a total of $6.9 million in private development dollars, as well as close to $700,000 in state tax credits for brownfield redevelopment and incentives.

Vinton Building LLC plans to invest $5 million to redevelop the Vinton Building along Woodward Avenue into ground-level retail space and condominiums. In addition to the private investment, the developer will obtain a tax credit valued at $500,000 to remodel the interior of the structure to accommodate the condos and ensure the façade meets the Department of Interior's standards for historical buildings.

The 12,500-sf Lithuanian Hall, along Vernor Highway in Mexicantown, will receive a $1.9-million infusion from a private developer and a tax credit valued at $190,500. The property will be redeveloped with commercial, residential and office space. It also will be the home of two nonprofit organizations: Casa de Unidad and Southwest Nonprofit Housing Corp. Information about the renovation starts was not available by publication time.
