The center, which will include 230 on-site parking spaces rented to Bronco fans on Sunday games, also helps Jefferson Park, one of the city's poorest neighborhoods, by bringing 150 jobs, many of them high-paying, to the area. The Urology Center of Colorado is a joint venture development between 13 metro-area physicians and Development Solutions Group. The two tenants in the building, the Urology Center of Colorado, P.C. and Urology Surgery Center of Colorado, LLC, will occupy the entire facility.
The surgery center is a joint venture between the urologists and HCA-HealthOne, LLC, the company that operates six metro-area hospitals and numerous outpatient facilities. Services will include a urology clinical practice, an outpatient ambulatory surgery center, in-house imaging including CT scanning, oncology, a clinical lab and anatomical pathology department and clinical research facilities.
"I supported their rezoning, which was necessary for them to build it," Rick Garcia, the city councilman for Denver's 1st District, tells GlobeSt.com. "I think West 20th Avenue has the potential for more office buildings, which would serve as a buffer between Invesco Field and the residential portion of Jefferson Park."
The urology center is scheduled to open in January 2007. Two smaller urology center, one in Wheat Ridge and the other in Denver, will be closed and combined into the new facility.
The building is being designed by Boulder Associate Architects and is being constructed by general contractor Gerald H. Phipps. Years ago, the Phipps family owned the Denver Broncos.
