CENTURY CITY, CA-The AMC theater chain has opened the doors to its AMC Century City 15 at Westfield Century City's $150-million redevelopment and expansion, one of the first new movie theaters to open in some time on the Westside of Los Angeles. The opening this week adds to the West Los Angeles theater scene with a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall complex of movie screens, digital surround sound and "LoveSeat" stadium seating.
The new complex features 15 auditoriums with more than 3,000 seats, 18-inch risers for the stadium seating, an AMC Guest Services area, an undulating second-story balcony providing views past Santa Monica Boulevard into the mountains and other unusual design details. Phil Singleton, president and COO of AMC Theatres, calls the new venue "our crown jewel."
The new theater complex is part of a makeover of Westfield's Century City shopping center that includes an expanded Gelson's supermarket and a new dining terrace as well as 73,000 sf of specialty retail space.
