"When we are through, this building will be a piece of art," says Faisal, who is currently in the process of applying for permits to make the renovations. "I want this to be a place where everyone can come. That is my goal." Faisal says the 3,000-sf former Legion Post, located on about a half acre of land, will only undergo interior renovations because the building is considered a Brighton landmark.
Proceeds from the sale were divided among the 34 veterans who were members of the Post as of December 2004. They are considered the legal owners of the property, according to attorney John Mullaney. He notes that after setting aside $230,000 for taxes and fees, each of the veterans received about $20,000.
