GOODYEAR, AZ-Sports Chalet and Circuit City have made verbal commitments for combined 72,000 sf in the proposed $40-million Goodyear Centerpointe, a 300,000-sf power center planned for 30 acres along Interstate 10.
Ground will break in the spring at the interstate's junction with Pebble Creek Parkway, across the highway from the future Estrella Falls Regional Mall. Goodyear Centerpointe, ticketed to deliver in first quarter 2007, will have seven anchor tenants and numerous restaurants.
Sports Chalet plans to fill 42,000 sf and Circuit City is zeroing in on roughly 30,000 sf. Both retailers are eyeing spring 2007 openings, according to Laura Ortiz, principal with Evergreen Development Co. of Glendale, CA, which is developing the site. "We're expecting some more tenants to sign within the next one or two months as well, but Sports Chalet and Circuit City have given their verbal commitments already," she tells GlobeSt.com. She says most tenants will open doors in second quarter 2007. "That's the majority, but some pads might be developed at a later date."
The Goodyear shopping center will serve the fast-growing southwest metro areas like Buckeye, Avondale, Tolleson, Verrado, Litchfield Park, Estrella Mountain Ranch and Palm Valley. The development site has significant frontage on the interstate, Pebble Creek Parkway and McDowell Road.
The Butler Design Group of Phoenix is the project architect. Ed Beeh with the Staubach Co.'s Phoenix retail division is preleasing Goodyear Centerpointe.
