SALINE, MI-TyssenKrupp Materials Inc., a steel and metals specialty company, has acquired a 73,200-sf industrial building for expansion purposes from Unova Industrial Automation Systems Inc.

The building, located at 1715 E. Woodland Dr., was marketed for $3.1 million and, according to Peter E. Kepic, principal with Colliers International Southfield office, was selected partially because it was in a good area. In addition, "it was in great shape, and fairly new, only about six or seven years old," adds Kepic, who with Peter J. Kepic, also of Colliers, represented the buyer in the transaction.

Kepic tells GlobeSt.com that TyssenKrupp plans to use the building mainly for storage. "The company has locations in Detroit and Toledo, and this was a good location between the two," he says, adding that not much in the way of upgrades or changes was required for the property.

Corvus represented Unova in the transaction. Headquartered in Everett, WA, Unova, which will soon be renamed Intermec Inc., manufactures and markets data collection and mobile computing products used by distributors, warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
