James Vanderslice, the three-year president of GLV Realty Advisors, tells GlobeSt.com that talks began over the holidays for him to move to Grubb & Ellis, becoming the fourth senior vice president for the team. He says the decision was mortared in his desire to expand his tenant rep business, which wasn't part of the future from the perspective of GLV's parent, the Gaedeke Group LLP.

"Moody [Younger] really wants to expand the tenant rep side," Vanderslice says, "and I'm good at developing business. That's what I'm going to do."

There are no plans by the Dallas-based Gaedeke Group to phase out the tenant rep operation, according to a corporate contact. Sabina Gaedeke Stener, president of the parent firm, has started interviewing senior executives to backfill the slot to lead GLV's three brokers and two-member support team.

Vanderslice started with Grubb & Ellis earlier this week, just as Younger, executive vice president and managing director for the DFW office, promoted Bo Estes to senior vice president from vice president. The group's other senior execs are Sam Hocker and Kevin McGovern.

Younger says the office services group now has 14 brokers, of which 10 are on the tenant rep side of the business. "I am looking to add four people to that group this year," he says.

As the expansion plans take root, a local broker, Burson Holman, recently was named "rookie of the year" in a competition with 150 other Grubb & Ellis professionals for the annual award presented to brokers with less than two years' experience. Holman, previously with El Paso Corp. in Houston, now oversees 570,000 sf of office space.
