The new executive team has two presidents: one to lead the day-to-day operations and the other for development and acquisitions. Wayne B. Goldberg, formerly executive vice president of operations, is president and CEO with daily oversight for company-owned and corporate support departments. Alan L. Tallis was named president and chief development officer in charge of acquisitions, development and franchising for La Quinta and Baymont Inns & Suites brands. Tallis most recently was executive vice president, chief development officer and president of franchising.
"We expect that under their leadership, the company will continue to outperform its competitors and will grow aggressively," Jonathan D. Gray, senior managing director and co-head of the New York City-based Blackstone's real estate group, says in a press release.
Goldberg, with 27 years' experience, and Tallis, with 26 years in the hospitality industry, joined La Quinta in 2000. And, both were one-time executives for Red Roof Inns Inc. Not only will the team be "pursuing new acquisition opportunities," Tallis says, but "we will move quickly to assess the best opportunities available. The Dallas-based LQ Management LLC is starting out with a portfolio of more than 600 owned and franchised hotels in 39 states and Canada.
