Transwestern Continues Brokerage Expansion

Pearson, who most recently was with Trammell Crow Co., is a 15-year industry veteran whose career has included leasing assignments for high-profile institutional landlords, among them JP MorganChase, AEW and The Voit Cos. Housman, who most recently was with Douglas Emmett Co., has 24 years in the industry serving a roster of clients that has included AEW, Douglas Emmett and Company, Kennedy Associates, Kearny Real Estate Co., Morgan Stanley and the Voit Cos.

George Garfield, Transwestern's West Region president, says that the company plans to expand its agency leasing practice under Housman and Pearson, just as it plans to expand its tenant representation practice under the recently named team of Jonathan Larsen, Eric Moore, J.D. DeRosa and Suzanne Lee. The two new leasing teams are part of an overall expansion plan that Garfield outlined for GlobeSt.com recently.

Garfield says that the addition of the tenant and landlord leasing services are critical elements not only of Transwestern's regional strategy but of its national strategy as well. Transwestern has been proceeding on a step-by-step basis in executing its strategy for the western region, where its operations already include a property management division that manages between 15 million sf and 20 million sf of space, a development group and an investment sales group formed last year that specializes primarily in multifamily properties.

Transwestern's strategy is to grow at a pace that is "meaningful, but not hasty, so that we can get top-notch players" in order to remain a small operation of senior-level professionals, according to Garfield. The company also plans to expand both its development activities and its investment sales capabilities, including the addition of office, industrial and retail specialists to the investment sales effort.

Besides its downtown and West L.A. offices, Transwestern's western region maintains offices in Newport Beach, San Diego, San Francisco and Phoenix as well as a number of property management offices throughout California. In addition to the newly formed agency leasing practice in Los Angeles, it has landlord representation specialists in Phoenix and Orange County.
