Innkeepers has initiated a search to replace Riggins, according to Jeffrey H. Fisher, CEO and president. "Bruce has done a superb job in a short period of time, and we wish him well in his return to his former company," Fisher said in a statement.
Riggins worked for Interstate and its predecessor companies for seven years before leaving his post as SVP and treasurer about a year ago to join Innkeepers. Prior to joining Interstate as SVP and treasurer, he served as VP of strategic planning and analysis for MeriStar Hospitality Corp. and senior director of finance for both MeriStar and Interstate. That was when the two companies shared a number of senior-level executives in a paper-clip REIT/C-Corp structure.
Riggins tells GlobeSt.com his decision to leave Innkeepers, "is not related to anything negative, and I've had a good experience here. Interstate made a very attractive offer, and it's a large company with many exciting opportunities. In addition, both my wife and I have families in the area."
Innkeepers owns 70 hotels with an aggregate of 8,825 suites or rooms in 20 states and Washington, DC. Interstate, which is the largest independent hotel management company in the US, operates nearly 300 hospitality properties with more than 65,000 rooms in 41 states, Washington DC, Canada and Russia.
