Big Bethel AME Church is the primary developer. Integral, headed by Egbert L. J. Perry, is leasing a major portion of the Auburn Avenue redevelopment corridor from the church, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.
The Palamont was a 38-year-old property that housed African-American guests Downtown during the area's legal segregation era prior to the 1960s civil rights movement. The church bought the hotel in 2003 when it began acquiring other properties for the planned redevelopment project.
