RIVERSIDE, CA-Transcan Development has signed the Staples office supply chain and four other new tenants to the Alamo-based developer's $150-million mixed-use Canyon Crossings project development at the 60 and 215 freeways. The other four are EasyLife Furniture, Hooter's, Jason's Deli and Joey's Seafood & Grill.

Transcan is building the combination of 744,000 sf of retail and 144,000 sf of class A office space on a 90-acre site that is part of a 180-acre master-planned commercial hub called Canyon Springs. Bob Bahen, Transcan Development's CEO and president, says that LA Fitness and Wickes will open as the first tenants at the project this spring. Additional retailers and restaurants will open by the end of the year and in the first quarter of 2007.

The project will be anchored by a 50,000-sf John's Incredible Pizza, Wickes and LA Fitness. Additional new tenants also include U Build It, Fresh Cleaners, Happy Nails, Verizon Wireless and Cingular Wireless.

The leasing agents for the retail space are Tom Swieca and Tony Archer at CB Richard Ellis, with John Oien and Natalie Bazarevitsch of CBRE handling the leasing for the office space. Summit Builders of Newport Beach is the general contractor, with MCG Architects of Pasadena and Designers Collective of Lafayette as project architects.
