Construction plans for the property at College Park Drive and Academy Way, bought from the Woodlands Development Co., have yet to be announced although the building committee is talking with architects and general contractors. The project will take about three years to complete.

In the meantime, the congregation's current church at Research Forest and Cochran's Crossing drives will be put on the market. "The ideal thing would be if we could sell to another church that is in a growth pattern, then maybe lease it back from them until our own facilities are built," John Brown, church administrator with Crossroad Baptist, tells GlobeSt.com. Crossroads is sponsoring a capital campaign to raise a $7.5 million to begin construction, with the drive scheduled to end in the spring.

"We chose the location for many reasons," Brown says. "It's on a main highway and the location is close to our current site." The two sites are approximately two miles apart.

Visibility was also a factor in choice of land, Brown adds. "Right now, we're in a hidden location," he notes. "This location gives us terrific visibility, while remaining close to where we are now."
