Motta joins Starwood after serving as president of the Motta Group, a Fort Lauderdale, FL-based resort and residential development firm. Motta was also named a managing director of Starwood Capital.

St. Joe/Arvida Co. is the residential real estate development and services arm of the St. Joe Co., where he oversaw the development of 16 resort and master-planned communities, including WaterColor, St. Joe's signature resort community on Florida's Panhandle. Before heading St. Joe/Arvida, Motta served as president and CEO of Arvida Co., which had operations in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and California at the time.
Joining Motta are Roy G. Paskow and Gary A. Walker, who were named vice presidents with the new firm. Previously Paskow worked with Motta as president of the South Florida region of St. Joe Towns and Resorts, where he managed projects in Broward, Palm Beach and Hillsborough counties in Florida. Walker most recently served as a principal at the Motta Group.
