Sidley Austin moved into the Gas Company Tower in 1993 and has grown steadily since then. With its most recent expansion, the firm will now fill six full floors and occupy part of another floor in the high-rise elevator bank of the 50-story building. Bay and Hammerstein represented Sidley in the 15-year lease with building owner Maguire Properties, which was represented in-house by Peter Johnston and Josh Wrobel.
Sidley has been a signature tenant of the Gas Company Tower for many years, Bay notes. He and Hammerstein also represented the law firm when Sidley moved into the 50-story tower in 1993, as well as in the firm's subsequent expansions and extensions in 1995, 1998 and 2003.
Terms of the law firm's lease were not disclosed. Asking rates at Maguire's website are listed in the range of $21 to $22 per sf per month, triple net.
