Hyatt has also taken over the management of the Great Eastern Hotel. Initially it will continue to operate as the Great Eastern Hotel but in January next year it will be rebranded under the Hyatt Regency name.

The hotel is located near Liverpool Street Station and right in the center of the City of London, the capital's financial hub. The historic 267-room hotel was fully renovated and reopened in February 2000. Today, it boasts five restaurants, four bars and 12 private dining and event rooms.

This is Hyatt's second major European hotel acquisition this month. Two weeks ago it announced the acquisition of full ownership interest in Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome, the prestigious five-star luxury hotel located in the heart of Paris on Rue de la Paix. Global Hyatt officials declined to reveal the purchase price of the 178-room property, which it acquired from Bouygues Immobilier and Credit Foncier.

The hotel opened in 2002 after major works by Bouygues Immobilier. The historic bank complex is adjacent to Place Vendome, the landmark square originally built in 1702 as a monument to the glory of the armies of Louis XIV.
