Durrell tells GlobeSt.com that he and Jochums have worked opposite each other on numerous transactions and have occasionally talked about working together. C&W senior managing director John Miller was instrumental in brining it to fruition.
"First, John has been recruiting us for some time to really ramp up his Eastside office," says Durrell, who is making the first move in his 14-year career. "Second, Jeff and I have had a mutual respect for each other."
Durrell's clients have included Boeing, Ignition Partners, Progressive Insurance, Wells Fargo, First Independent Bank and the City of Bellevue. Jochums' clients have included Benaroya Co., Sharebuilder Corp., Windermere Real Estate, Principal Global Investors and FM Global Insurance.
As for whether their clients will follow them to C&W, Durrell says he hasn't had a chance to speak with all of them and, regardless, it's not his decision. "The client is the one who gets to dictate," he says. "Whatever they decide is fine; [PREP] has handled this in a very classy manner."
Durrell in 2004 and 2005 was listed among Co Star's top 20 office brokers. In 2003, he was runner-up for the SIOR Office Broker of the Year award. Jochums, who has 11 years of industry experience, has been a top performer for Colliers five of the past six years. For C&W, Durrell and Jochums will specialize in procuring new local, regional and national leasing and sales clients.
"It's been more than ten years since two brokers of this caliber have left separate firms to team up in the Puget Sound market," Miller says. "We feel like this is a real coup for our organization locally."
