"We hope to be through with all the work in 3.5 to four years," Patrick Renfro, project manager for Austin-based Broaddus & Associates Inc., tells GlobeSt.com. He says the $231-million contract recently was awarded, but is still awaiting final signatures. The 3D International pact most likely is at the same stage.
Renfro says the bricks-and-mortar delivery plan is just in its infancy. And, he adds, changes to the planned rollout of the master plan could be forthcoming because several new board members have been seated. The college has been mapping out the expansion since fall 2004.
Coming up soon will be the acquisition of additional land for the northeast campus and the first of several bond sales to finance the expansion, according to Renfro. Still to be decided is whether or not to raise all buildings simultaneously or stagger the starts.
Broaddus & Associates and Project Control of Texas, based in San Antonio, recently were selected to lead development of a $125-million northeast campus along Interstate 35 and $106 million of improvements and additions to the Northwest Vista College along FM 1604. The Houston-based 3D International Inc. will oversee renovations and expansions at Palo Alto College at 1400 W. Villaret St., St. Philip's College at 1801 Martin Luther King Dr. and San Antonio College at 1300 San Pedro Ave.
