Executive Watch

Perspective

Jonathan A. Schein - President & CEO - Real Estate Media - GlobeSt.com3/28/06: Already at a fever pitch, the upcoming election is generating analyses on every news channel in numbing proportions. But there’s one date that many pundits are failing to recognize, and it will most likely figure heavily in the elections. That’s June 1--the start of this year's hurricane season. On the heels of the poorly handled recovery from Hurricane Katrina, the best anyone can hope for is that we won’t get hit again. No guarantees there. But neither are there any guarantees that those in power will be better able to handle another disaster of like proportions. Photo ops and grand pronouncements of all that’s being done for victims are one thing. It’s another to state with honesty that, should another hurricane hit, we're ready. If elected officials can’t say that, the next date of importance will be November 7.
