"This is a big project for Northern Colorado," Ron Kuehl, vice president of Real Estate for McWhinney Enterprises, tells GlobeSt.com. "There are a lot of parties involved--us, physicians and the hospital."

"I think one of the most exciting things about this project is that it is real," Kuehl continues. "I read about a lot of projects that are announced to be built in Northern Colorado, and then when you look at the site, all you see are corn fields."

The medical office building will have three stories, with pedestrian walkways on two levels connecting to Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR). Architecturally, it will complement MCR, utilizing mostly brick and stone exteriors. It will also feature unobstructed views of mountains and lakes. McWhinney is implementing sustainable building practices for the MOB through material selection, recycling, water efficiency, and mechanical systems efficiencies.

"The medical office building will be an important addition to Medical Center of the Rockies and will help create a robust, regional medical campus at Centerra that will serve communities across Northern Colorado as well as Wyoming and Western Nebraska," Kuehl says.

He tells GlobeSt.com that it is McWhinney's policy not to reveal the dollar value of construction. "But I will say that a lot of these medical office buildings can have very expensive tenant improvements, which the doctors themselves typically pay for," Kuehl tells GlobeSt.com. "If you have something like an imaging center, the improvements can cost as much as the original construction."
