Colliers' strategic plan calls for an increase of personnel from 43 to 80. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Phoenix shop, which opened in the late 1970s, will invest another $1.5 million into its bricks and mortar. The 16,000-sf office at 2390 E. Camelback Rd. is being expanded by 9,000 sf while other plans call for relocating the Scottsdale office and adding one in the East Valley submarket. There's also talk about buying a local research company.
The purpose of the ambitious growth plan is to address changing needs of clients, says Michael Fitz-Gerald, managing director with Colliers International-Greater Phoenix. "We're trying to cover the market spaces our clients are involved in," he explains. "That requires us to expand the number of the people we have to cover spaces we're not covering now."
Since January, 12 sales and marketing associates have come on board. Recent hires include Thomas P. Montgomery Jr., associate vice president; and Doug Heller, Joshua Hirons, Cathy Perry, Cary Chandler and Brent Gordon as marketing associates. They join Pete Hattasch, Allene Avey, Gordon Carll, Gail Lance-Huntoon, Joshua Landers and Kevin Lange, who were hired earlier in the year.
"It's our intention over the next two years to fill the market spaces that are empty. Market space is the areas in which our sales force works," Fitz-Gerald tells GlobeSt.com. Some of the areas targeted, he continues, include golf courses, senior-care facilities, smaller multifamily properties and high-rise condos.
In June, renovations will begin on Colliers' Camelback Road office. Earlier this year, work got under way on an 8,000-sf office at 14080 N. Northsight Blvd. for Colliers Classic, which now offices at 7845 E. Redfield Rd. in the Scottsdale Airpark. The offices are scheduled to be completed in the fall. "We'll be moving the Scottsdale people into their new space about the same time as we expand into ours here on Camelback," Fitz-Gerald says.
