BREMEN, GERMANY-Locally headquartered BLG Logistics has inked a 658,000-sf build-to-suit deal with Brussels-based Eurinpro, which specializes in logistics warehouse development. The multi-building development will include 649,000 sf of warehouse and 9,000 sf of office. BLG will lease the space from Eurinpro.
Work will begin next month on the first phase. The first phase will be delivered to BLG Logistics by the end of September. After that, work will begin on the remaining facilities, which are slated for occupancy by February 2007. The details of the transaction were not released by the parties involved and not otherwise immediately available.
Posting sales of euro 700 million in 2005, BLG specializes in automotive logistics, contract logistics and containerized logistics. It also runs the logistics operations of Tchibo, a multinational department store company. BLG will use the Bremen logistics center to accommodate the needs of Tchibo and other customers.
The warehouse facilities will have 54 loading docks and an internal free height of 34.4 feet. BLG's specific requirements call for six canopies, 12 fast-opening overhead doors allowing for proper temperature control and two induction circle sets. The warehouse's heating and insulation system must provide a constant internal temperature of 17°C.
"Bremen is an ideal location…, as it has become one of Germany's logistic `hot spots,' due in large part to the growing prominence of its port operations," says Eurinpro country manager Christian Bischoff.
Eurinpro specializes in tailor-made logistics real estate projects and investments, and operates in Europe, Asia and North America. In the last five years, the company has built 12.9 million sf of warehouse space. In the last month, Eurinpro has announced three deals totaling more than one million sf.
In Leipzig, Germany, it is developing a 755,000-sf distribution facility for the German unit of Amazon.com, which will lease the space upon its completion. In Willebroek, Belgium, it is developing a 345,600-sf warehouse complex here to suit DHL Exel Supply Chain, which also will lease the facility. In Anagni, Italy, it is expanding four of its warehouses to accommodate the expansion of two existing tenants.
