Perspective
When is being entrenched in one particular mindset a bad management practice? Perhaps the latest to-do over Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld may be a great case study to examine. On the surface, President Bush is vehemently behind his chosen manager, almost to the point where he has boxed himself in. On the other side are past subordinates who are exclaiming that it is time for a change and this is the most opportune time do so. The point here is not a judgment about the successes or failures of Rumsfeld's service. The idea here is to examine how we also sometimes don't look at all points of view in a particular case. And whichever decision is ultimately made, it is always advantageous to examine all counsel.
