Esnard, whose post is a new position, will lead brokerage and sales development and work in conjunction with Colliers' North American Operating Committee, according to Rick Chichester, Los Angeles-based president of North America for Colliers. The hiring of Esnard is the latest example of Colliers' continuing strategic shift away from geographic-based leadership and toward business line leadership.

Esnard, who was VP of real estate at Fort Properties, has been involved in leasing, development and investment transactions totaling more than $3.5 billion. He has also served as a senior managing director at CB Richard Ellis.

Esnard formed close ties with Colliers International in the past year, advising in the development of Colliers' Private Capital Advisors. Among the reasons Esnard cites for his move to the new position is that Colliers "is creating true entrepreneurship."

Esnard also comments that he was attracted to Colliers in part because of the senior managers' "commitment to create a unique corporate culture." He will serve on the Colliers' North American Operating Committee with a group that includes Chicester; David Bowden, president of Canadian brokerage services; Dan Paulus, president of Colliers International Realty Advisors North America; and Graham Brown, president of real estate management services.
