Built in 1968, it is located on more than 10 acres and consists of a 45,984-sf, 140-bed skilled nursing facility that offers long-term health care, physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy and special care services. The single-story building features administrative office space, a kitchen, beauty parlor, dining and recreation rooms, private residents' rooms and a sitting room lounge.

Elizabeth Chappel, VP of CB Richard Ellis of Stamford, represented the seller and procured both the buyer and the new operator of the facility, Connecticut Health Facilities, which is based in Hartford. "Mill Hill Terrace Associates was interested in acquiring a stable asset in a flourishing market. Southport Manor fit all the requirements and we were pleased with the results of this exceptional sale."

Southport Manor had been experiencing financial difficulties a number of years ago and was acquired via receivership by Connecticut Health of Southport, according to CB Richard Ellis. Chappel says that the new ownership is planning to upgrade the building.
