BOSTON-The Boston Redevelopment Authority has given the green light to four residential projects that will add 200 units to the city's housing stock. In four Boston neighborhoods, they will include 65 affordable units.
The largest of the projects is being built by a development team led by North Beacon LLC and BV Development LLC, both of Brighton. They will create 76 loft-style condominium units through the rehabilitation and expansion of an existing building at 61 North Beacon St. in Allston-Brighton. Nine of those units are set as affordable.
In Jamaica Plain, the board approved a project to create a mixed-use development at 262-270 Centre St. The project will put a four-story, 30-unit residential building along with about 8,000 sf of commercial, office and community space on 19,070 sf of land. All of the units will be affordable. That $18-million project, which is set to break ground in the fall, is being developed by the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp.
At 12 Humphreys St. in Dorchester, developer Sojourner House Inc. is planning a $6-million project that will put 18 units of affordable housing on the market, providing both rental and homeownership opportunities to eligible residents. In the South End, Boston Residential Group LLC will create 63 residential condominiums, eight of them affordable, along with 9,000 sf of street level commercial space at 285 Columbus Ave. It is part of a $50-million redevelopment project scheduled to start by the end of the year.
