PLAYA VISTA, CA-The developer of the 1000-acre Playa Vista project, Playa Capital, plans to develop a 130-unit project called the Plaza Condominiums. The project, which will be designed by the architectural firm of Austin Veum Robbins Partners, is planned for a development site at the intersection of Runway Road and Dawn Creek, between Jefferson Boulevard and Runway Road.
The Plaza Condominiums represent the second project for AVRP within Playa Vista and the first project of Phase II of Playa Vista's overall development plan, known as the Village. The Village will connect homes on Playa Vista's west side with the campus area on the eastern end of the property.
Paul Thometz, managing director of AVRP, says floor plans will range from approximately 1,100 sf to 2,100 sf, with units of two and three bedrooms. Amenities will include study and office niches, day rooms, sustainable design elements, glass sectional exterior doors, entertainment walls, cooking islands, fireplaces and loft space.
The Village plan calls for more than 2,600 new homes and a neighborhood retail center that will offer restaurants, a grocery store, a bank branch and other community retail services. Construction is slated to begin in January 2007 and to be completed in time for occupancy in March 2008.
