NORTH BERGEN, NJ-Bimbo Bakeries USA has leased 14,700 sf of industrial space at 3200 Liberty Ave. here. The 211,000-sf building on nine acres is owned by the New York City-based Pantheon Properties, and the signing leaves just 7,900 sf remaining vacant on-site.

According to Zack Hitchcock of Pantheon Properties, the site was selected over several other candidate locations because of its access to New York City. It's also part of a larger expansion in the region by BBU. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.

In fact, BBU recently signed for additional space in Wilton, CT, according to Stephen D'Amato of CB Richard Ellis, who with the firm's Ken Walter brokered the transaction. The company is also in the process of negotiating for distribution facilities in the Bronx and Queens, according to D'Amato.

Headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, Bimbo Bakeries USA is part of Mexico's Grupo Bimbo, which markets 100 products and operates 70 plants and 950 distribution centers around the world. Among the company's most popular brands in the US are Thomas' English Muffins, Boboli, Entenmann's, Oroweat, Bohemian Hearth and Weber's.
