"New Jersey is the most densely populated state, and we are very dependent on foreign oil," Bass Levin says. "Long-term, the effort will be to bring down the cost of utilities."
The agency's Green Task Force's effort will include developing a how-to guide that will include recommendations relating to green building materials. The plan also calls for adapting building codes to such standards and expanding existing programs, including Affordable Green. The latter offers financial incentives for the construction of affordable housing units with energy-efficient materials.
