The firm just put the finishing touches on the 360,000-sf building. In the next few months, several tenants that have signed lease deals at the property are expected to move in. GE Commercial Finance will move its headquarters from Stamford into 90,000 sf of space at 901 Main Ave. in June. The following month, Carlson Marketing Group will be taking occupancy of approximately 65,000 sf of space. The Norwalk-based firm has options to lease up to 80,000 sf of space at the building in the next three years, says Building and Land Technology president and CEO Carl R. Kuehner III.
Kuehner says Building and Land Technology is expanding its corporate headquarters operations with its move to 901 Main Ave. The firm decided to make the move so that it could manage the property's operations on site. There is approximately 150,000 sf of space at the site available for lease. He says that the ownership is in negotiations with prospective tenants for the remainder of the vacant space there.
In the past five years, Building and Land Technology has either acquired or built approximately 1.45 million sf of office space in Norwalk, effectively doubling the size of commercial space in the Norwalk/Merritt Parkway/Route 7 corridor. Among its notable holdings are the Towers, which houses the North American headquarters of Diageo plc, and the regional headquarters of Hewitt Associates. Since its founding, Building and Land Technology has developed or owned more than $1 billion of real estate including more than two million sf of office space, 2,500 apartments and condominiums and 500 single-family homes.
