BOSTON-The developer of International Place has told city officials he wants to put a mixed-use project totaling 1.2 million sf along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The venture would put a 175-room hotel, 125 condominium units, 800,000 sf of office space and a large chunk of retail space along Atlantic Avenue. The cost of the project, which is still pending city approvals, is estimated to run between $600 million and $800 million.
Don Chiofaro met yesterday with Boston Redevelopment Authority officials to discuss preliminary plans for the two-building project. He has already secured an option to buy a parking garage adjacent to the New England Aquarium where the development will be built, a city official confirmed to GlobeSt.com.
Chiofaro plans to demolish the garage and replace it with the project, which will include 1,400 underground parking spaces. Preliminary plans also call for a 475-ft tower to be built on the site. The tower would be about 75 feet taller than the nearby Harbor Towers.
