CLEVELAND-Christopher P. Marr has been named CFO of locally based U-Store-It Trust, a self-storage specialty REIT. He served as senior vice president and CFO of Plymouth Meeting, PA-based Brandywine Realty Trust since 2002. Prior to that, his executive posts included the CFO position for Storage USA in Memphis.
At Storage USA, Marr worked with Dean Jernigan, U-Store-It's president and CEO from 1994 when it went public until its sale in 2002. Following the sale, Jernigan formed Jernigan Property Group and about a month ago was named to head U-Store-It.
Marr tells GlobeSt.com he resigned from Brandywine "for the opportunity to reunite with Dean and to help in the challenge of making U-Store-It grow as a public company and be all that it can be." He will assume the U-Store-It post June 5, but, because he and his wife have a four-week-old baby, "we're still figuring out our move to Cleveland."
In announcing the appointment, Jernigan says in a statement that "Chris and I worked closely at Storage USA over an eight-year period. I have a tremendous level of respect for his financial experience and look forward to his partnership with me at U-Store-It."
"We appreciate Chris' contributions and this is a great opportunity for him to return to a sector he knows well," says Gerard H. Sweeney, Brandywine's president and CEO. Tim Martin, vice president of finance, and Scott Fordham, vie president and chief accounting officer, will handle Brandywine's CFO responsibilities during the search for Marr's replacement.
