Sierra Providence is scheduled to open in early 2008 along with the rest of the campus, a Tenet source tells GlobeSt.com. The hospital is going up at the junction of Joe Battle and Edgemere boulevards on the city's east side in a low- to moderate-income area, just south of the Fort Bliss Military Reservation.
The acute-care hospital will be Sierra Providence's fourth in the area. The 100-bed facility could be expanded to 159 beds, possibly in its first operating year. The facility is projected to create 750 to 1,000 jobs.
The locally based Sierra Providence also operates the 508-bed Providence Memorial Hospital, which houses the 106-bed Children's Hospital at Providence, plus 351-bed Sierra Medical Center and 72-bed Sierra Providence Physical Rehabilitation Hospital.
