FISHKILL, NY-Officials with Florham Park, NJ-based Westminster Communities LLC will break ground by the end of this summer on the Crest at Fishkill townhome development. Site work has already begun on the project located on Route 52 on a parcel just south of Interstate 84. The Crest at Fishkill will feature 106 two-story townhouse units ranging in size from 1,750 sf to 2,400 sf.

The community will also include a clubhouse and outdoor swimming pool. Company officials did not provide any development cost for the project. They add that the prices of the individual units have not been determined as yet. Occupancy is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2007.

"The appeal of this new community is that it offers maintenance-free living, in a picturesque setting, within commuting distance of New York City," says Sam Gershwin, president of Westminster Communities. "The townhomes are being designed in two- to six-unit clusters, providing privacy and lovely views."

At present, Westminster Communities is working on two single-family home communities on the west end of Long Island --the Highlands at Reeves and the Highlands at Aquebogue, both located in Riverhead. The Highlands at Reeves will have 60 single-family homes located adjacent to the Cherry Creek golf course. The Highlands at Aquebogue will feature 79 homes bordering the Long Island National Golf Club.

Company officials say the firm has several other projects in New York State in various stages of approval. Westminster has also begun site work and construction on the first two buildings of its Cedar Gate luxury townhome development being built in Livingston, NJ. The project, located in Essex County, will feature 54 three-bedroom, two-level townhomes when fully built out.
