AURORA, CO-Developer Alberta Development Partners has entered the final phase of construction at the 1.7-million-sf Southlands mall. The recent raising of the final steel on the Southlands Clock Tower at the center of Main Street marked the entry into the final stage of construction at the Southlands center.

The third and final phase of Southlands is slated for completion in October. When completed, the mall will comprise 301 acres of mixed-use retail that "includes elements of a lifestyle entertainment town center and a super regional power center," according to Don Provost, principal of Alberta Development Partners.

The center of the development will be Main Street at Southlands, which will combine a movie theater, several locally owned and national retailers and restaurants, and a number of retail boutiques. The north end of Main Street features a one-acre plaza that will be home to year-round events and entertainment. Plans call for the plaza to host a twice-weekly farmer's market in the summer and to serve as home for a Santa's house in the winter, with an ice skating rink that will be open from November through March.

Tenants slated to open on Main Street in October include Banana Republic, Barnes and Noble, Chico's, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Gap Kids, Sports Authority, Victoria's Secret, White House Black Market and several others. In the two phases of Southlands are complete, more than 40 retailers are in place including Bed, Bath and Beyond, a Cost Plus World Market, Colorado Cinemas' Southlands Stadium 16, Old Navy, Petco, Pier 1 Imports, Ross, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart and a number of restaurants.

Alberta Development Partners acquires, develops and invests in retail real estate throughout the Front Range of Colorado. The company has completed more than 220 projects totaling more than four million sf of retail space.
