The building began life in 1870 as the Kealy School, a private institution, and later became Hoboken's Public School #2. In 1996 it was converted to rental apartments and remained that was for the past decade until the New York-based R Squared acquired the property recently.
"The building's former use allowed us to create an unusual living experience," says Gregg Rechler, a principal of the New York-based R Squared, a real estate investment firms that owns and operates more than seven million sf of property in the New York metro area. "That includes a dramatic lobby with walls, twin staircases and handrails all clad in marble."
Interior remodeling has been designed by Manhattan architects Beyer Blinder Belle, and M. Paul Friedberg & Partners is the landscape architect. The exclusive sales agent is the New York-based Marketing Directors Inc.
