PINE BROOK, NJ-EasyClosets has signed a lease for 122,000 sf of flex space at 19 Chapin Rd. here. The nine-year-old company, which designs and installs custom closets and other storage-related components for the home and is currently based in Millington, will consolidate its headquarters, production and installation operations at the site.
The flex building at 19 Chapin Rd. is part of a four-building, master planned flex campus owned by SK Realty & Management, a private investment company based in Fairfield. The four buildings total 525,000 sf on the 130-acre site, and besides the incoming EasyClosets, the tenant roster is headed by Ricoh, Curtiss-Wright, Siemens and Denon Electronics. Terms of the EasyClosets lease were not disclosed.
Founded in 1997, EasyClosets has in recent years expanded rapidly primarily via its online business. "Their business model has seen remarkable growth through their web site," confirms Scott Peck, senior vice president of Resource Realty of Northern New Jersey, based in Parsippany, who orchestrated the deal for the tenant. "They also have a New Jersey installation division called Contemporary Closets.
"The facility at 19 Chapin Rd. will provide a logistical advantage to service the New York metro area and their natural distribution network," Peck continues. "Our facility search for the company included a review of production alternatives outside of New Jersey while maintaining the executive function in Northern New Jersey. In the end, the consolidation of the office, production and distribution functions is most efficient in one facility, and this site provides a high quality flex building to accomplish that."
